✔ ANA NETWORK – SIGN UP to the ANA Network and become a site member of the ANA community platform. How is joining the ANA Network different from being a registered member of the ANA Community?

• Site membership grants you visitor access, and so early access to resources, such as early bird events and the ANA Newsletter and Member Blog notifications. Your profile will be visible in the Member Directory as part of the ANA Network.

• To unlock full access to the Member Area—including the ability to engage with other members, follow, comment and share posts, join the Member Chat, and participate in Special Interest Groups—please JOIN ANA and complete your member registration.

✔ REGISTERED MEMBERS – JOIN ANA to become a registered member of the ANA Community, signalling your commitment to the ANA ethical Charter, responsible neuroscience, and a social pledge. Gain access to the Members Area where our past Discord functionality has been integrated with new features in one location, enhancing learning, visibility and networking opportunities.

 📌 IMPORTANT: if you were a registered member on the old website, please see option 1️⃣ below. You will need to log in, sign up and JOIN ANA, applying a coupon code to transfer any existing membership to the new community platform and redo your profile.​​

How to Get Started

Which option applies to you?

To ensure a smooth experience, please follow the steps below based on your membership status.

​

For all 3 options, go to the 🔗 Community Platform​ to Log In, Sign Up and JOIN ANA.

📌 IMPORTANT: Logging in and signing up adds your details to the ANA Network. Be sure to complete your registration after that by selecting JOIN ANA to become a registered community member:

1️⃣ Legacy Members (Transferring Existing Membership)

If you have an active ANA membership from our old website, you’ll need to apply a coupon (provided separately via email) to transfer your membership to the new platform.

Steps:

1. Log In and Sign Up on the new platform to join the ANA Network. When logged in to your account be sure to set up your DISPLAY NAME and TITLE as you would like it to be seen in the Member Directory (otherwise it defaults to your email name)

2. Wait for a confirmation email to approve your membership, but don't stop here!

3. Once approved, return to the home page and select JOIN ANA and apply your Coupon Code: [CODE] at checkout 

     📌 IMPORTANT if you are a FULL MEMBER, select the monthly subscription option

(🔖  the Coupon Code will be issued on account approval covering any remaining time on your legacy membership)

2️⃣ Legacy Members (Renewing Membership)

If your annual membership has expired and due for renewal, you’ll need to sign up and complete a new membership application, and this will auto-renew until you cancel.

Steps:

1. Log In and Sign Up on the new platform to join the ANA Network. When logged in to your account be sure to set up your DISPLAY NAME and TITLE as you would like it to be seen in the Member Directory (otherwise it defaults to your email name)

2. Wait for a confirmation email to approve your membership, but don't stop here!

3. Once approved, return to the home page and select JOIN ANA and complete the joining process to become a registered community member

 

3️⃣ New Members (Joining for the First Time)

If you are new to ANA, welcome! 

You will need to log in, sign up, and JOIN ANA! 

Steps:

1. Log In and Sign Up on the new platform o join the ANA Network. When logged in to your account be sure to set up your DISPLAY NAME and TITLE as you would like it to be seen in the Member Directory (otherwise it defaults to your email name)

2. Wait for a confirmation email to approve your membership, but don't stop here!

3. Once approved, return to the home page and select JOIN ANA and complete the process choosing from the Full Member, Associate Member or Student/Graduate Member options and complete the joining process to become a registered community member

Registered Members Area ​​​​

• Member Directory:

When you sign up to the Community Platform and choose to create a Public Profile, you are automatically added to the Member Directory as an ANA Network member.

To become a registered ANA Community member and receive your membership badge (based on your membership type), you’ll need to JOIN ANA.

Access to Member Directory benefits is available exclusively to ANA Community members who want to connect with peers and discover professionals across applied neuroscience and allied disciplines. This searchable directory increases visibility within the community and supports opportunities for professional collaboration and partnership.

Make the most of your presence in the network by personalising your profile with a short bio, photo(s), and a custom background—this can include your own branding or website logo.

Please note: The Member Directory is not yet visible to ANA site visitors with plans to be part of the Beta Part 2 release.

• Member Chat: 

The Member Chat is a dedicated space for logged-in members to engage in real-time discussions, fostering networking and peer support. It enhances collaboration and helps members stay connected within the ANA community. The chat is accessible only in the Members Area, and you will only be able to see and connect with ANA Community members.

​

• Groups: 

The ANA Community Group feature is a safe space and forum for ANA Community members to reach out, share ideas, and request help with research, qualifying new business ideas, seeking volunteers, or resources.

The ANA Special Interest Groups (SIGs) bring together members with shared professional and research interests. These member-led groups offer a space for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and interdisciplinary discussion on emerging topics.

You are automatically added to the ANA Community Group and all SIGs upon joining. You can manage your group memberships and choose which ones to remain in via your account once logged in.

If you're interested in leading a SIG, visit the CONTACT page in the website footer and select: VOLUNTEER for ANA!

• Guest Writer:

We’re excited to feature guest writers on the ANA BRAIN BLOG, bringing fresh insights, research, and real-world applications of neuroscience to the platform. Each contributor shares a unique perspective, enriching the ongoing conversation that connects neuroscience with everyday life.

To stay updated on new guest posts, enable NOTIFICATIONS in your account settings once logged in.

Interested in contributing? Click the Guest Writer link under MEMBERS AREA in the NEURO NETWORK menu on the home page. We have 'Style Guide Writing for ANA' to support the process!

Choosing Your Profile Visibility When Joining ANA

• Private Profiles Member Directory: Visible only to you—perfect for tracking personal activity.

• Public Profiles Member Directory: Accessible to other ANA Network and ANA Community members who have selected 'public' visibility of their profile. Only ANA Community members can interact on the Member Chat. Find the Member Directory via the NEURO NETWORK menu on the home page or via the Members Area button.

• Please note: The Member Directory is not yet visible to ANA site visitors with plans to be part of the Beta Part 2 release.
