ANA SUSTAINABILITY
Supporting Mental Health for Sustainable Living Through Poetry
There is a connection between mental well-being and sustainable living. This connection serves as a sustainability project for ANA by highlighting the relationship between mental well-being and an environment that enables meaningful interactions and enriches the quality of life.

This project aims to explore the connection between mental well-being and sustainable living through the lens of poetry. By leveraging the creative power of poetry we investigate how such forms of expression can positively influence emotional regulation and resilience, ultimately supporting sustainable behaviours.
The role of poetry in promoting mental health offers a unique intervention rooted in language. Practitioners and researchers can use poetry as an accessible tool to engage individuals and foster community resilience, help reduce stress and support mental well-being.
ANA committed to this intent as part of the International Men's Day (#IMD2024) Event on 19th November and will continue in partnership with WildWolf Wellbeing, founded by Timothy J Rowe. #IMD2024 saw Tim present 'Alchemy with Words: A Man’s Journey'. Alchemy with Words: A Man's Journey invites everyone to confront the growing challenges of social disconnection, loneliness, and men's mental ill health. Led by Timothy J Rowe, founder of The Wild Wolf, his poetic talk offers a raw and vulnerable exploration of his experiences. Timothy shares his journey from breaking point, focusing not on symptoms, but on the deeper causes that led to his point of suicidal ideation. Join this honest and real conversation where pain becomes a pathway to connection, and his stories are finally heard and evolved to where he is now 12 years later, supporting others in discovering strength through vulnerability.
By focusing on creative expression, particularly in local languages, this project, in partnership with WildWolf Wellbeing aims to address pressing challenges such as male suicide. The intersection of neuroscience and creativity for community engagement places connection at the heart and the promotion of sustainable living.
