Unpacking Male Resistance to Change from an Organisational Perspective
As part of the ANA International Men's Day Celebration (#IMD2024) Forum, Robert's Talk was led from the perspective of an Organisational Psychologist and Leadership Coach, He explored the psychological foundations behind men’s resistance to change, often rooted in values of stability, strength, and predictability. This talk examined how these characteristics, while advantageous in leadership and decision-making, can hinder adaptation in today’s rapidly evolving environments. Today’s VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) world requires resilience through adaptability. By understanding the psychological drivers of male steadfastness, he offered evidence-based strategies for an environment that fosters greater flexibility, resilience, and growth in male leaders, enabling them to navigate change more effectively while maintaining their core strengths.
